IntelliServer
IntelliServer is the central control application that is the focal point for the IntelliData system. The application runs as a data server, usually using IntelliManager as its user interface. Typically an enterprise will run one IntelliServer that scans all the installed IntelliPollers at every location within the enterprise. Multiple users are able log on to the server from different sites with IntelliManager (or third party applications) to monitor or view the data that is applicable to them.
IntelliServer is based around a database co-written by IntelliData staff that supports standard SQL queries over an industry standard ODBC interface. (The drivers are available from IntelliData Systems). This allows third party software such as spreadsheets or asset management tools to import live data directly from IntelliServer.
IntelliServer uses a delta triggered storage system for historical data. This means it only stores data when a monitored parameter changes, allowing IntelliServer to store historical data for thousands of devices over months or even years on a standard 30GB+ hard drive.
When monitored parameters exceed user defined thresholds at device level, cab level, PDU or even room level, IntelliServer will issue alerts. These can be via e-mail or SMS, but are more usually via SNMP traps to the Operating Centre's monitoring software.
IntelliServer may be installed on any Windows NT, XP, 2000, Vista or later platform. Although virtual machines can be used, speed performance in cabinet access control applications is significantly better with a real machine.
